AI workspace Research & development
Moru
Moru is an AI workspace that runs on your computer. Connect a model, describe a task in conversation, and review files and execution results in the workspace.
Source available · Access details
ACCESS & AVAILABILITY
Follow the GitHub setup instructions to run Moru on your computer. Requires Node.js 26 or later and a configured model connection.
USE CASES
Ask the model to read files in your workspace, organize their contents or write a new document.
Describe the changes in conversation, then inspect the edited files and tool results in the workspace.
Add tools for recurring work, with separate instructions and files for each conversation.
PRODUCT DETAILS
Choose a supported provider or configure an API endpoint and model. Available models depend on your account and environment.
Give each conversation its own folder and instructions for reading and editing files. View the conversation alongside the files it produces.
Follow tool progress and results during a conversation. Read documents, tables and code blocks, then continue with another request.
Write tools and add them to the workspace. This is intended for developers who want to adapt tool behavior to recurring tasks.
Copy a completed conversation and its files to explore another direction. Running or queued tasks are not copied to the branch.
We are researching a workflow for modifying execution code and switching to a new version, with separate handling for the current response and subsequent tasks.
WORKFLOW
The basic steps to get started.
Install and run Moru in a development environment. The project currently requires Node.js 26 or later.
Complete the provider’s connection flow or configure the API and model you want to use.
Start a conversation, explain the result you want, and use files in the workspace. Add tools if needed.
Inspect changed files and execution results. Request revisions in the same conversation or branch it to try another direction.
BEFORE YOU START
CURRENT STATUS
A research project for developers and advanced users. The workspace runs locally, but the selected model may require external APIs and a network connection.
Running locally means the workspace runs on your computer. Depending on the model connection, external services and internet access may be required. Fully offline inference is not guaranteed.
It is still in research and development. Installation and model configuration are required, and there is no general-user installer yet.
